Amen to that!

I agree with Sonia on that ... It is a privilege to be a member of this choir!!!

I love this family and i think that it is beautiful to see how much of an impact this art has on the crowd. Even if the cousin passed away shortly after I am sure he was less afraid to face what the Lord had reserved for him because the choir sings about the truth of God s kingdom. About how beautiful it is in heaven.

This cancer warrior went to heaven with a smile on his face thanks to all of the hard work, love and passion that everyone puts into the performances.

God bless you all :)

Thank you Dr. Payne for the discipline, the time, the challenges and your patience because without these things we would not be able to touch so many people and preach the true meaning of the Gospel lyrics.

Thank you for the education, the experience and most importantly the opportunity !!!

God bless you.

Sonia Patenaude: Re: Message from a Fan

Dear Dr. Payne,

Thank you for sharing this. I am sitting in a cafe working away from my office and am wiping tears from my cheeks.  I have always known that the privilege of being a member of this choir was grand. I have never taken it for granted and can say proudly that I never will.

Thank you for everything and I mean everything: the music, the bus rides, the travels, the great care in your teaching music and languages, the gown, the stipend, the rehearsal room (shall I go on....) the recording session, the collaboration with innumerable artists of all walks of life and fame.

Thank you and stay well.

Much love,

Sabine Némorin Groleau: Message from a Fan

Greetings Dr. Payne,

I just came back from a small dinner party and I thought I’d let you in on what was said…

We were having a rather disheartening conversation on cancer and the brave people who unfortunately had to battle this horrible disease.

One of the ladies present at the dinner started talking about one of the last concerts she attended with her very ill younger cousin.

My eyes quickly left my plate when she mentioned the Montreal Jubilation Gospel Choir.

She couldn’t stop saying how uplifted she felt when she left the church and although it was in 1999, she remembered most of the songs the choir had sung. She explained how her weakened cousin even got up on his feet when the choir got their handkerchiefs out to chant an African song.  When I gave her the title of the song, Babethandaza, she immediately got her laptop to play it.

The Hamba Ekhaya album was actually on her play list! She said that it was the most beautiful experience she had shared with her cousin who unfortunately lost his fight to cancer a few weeks after Celebration.

Although you and the members already know this, I felt the need to mention how much of an impact your choir had and still has on people.

Have an excellent upcoming Celebration 2011 at Place Des Arts.

Sincerely,

Sabine Némorin-Groleau

Dear Dr. Payne,

I have been a proud member of the Montreal Jubilation Choir over the span of the last 20 years (yes, 20 years!). Despite my being away from this wonderful group for family and career endeavors, the choir has always held a tremendous place in my heart whether encouraging friends to join or treating The Stanstead College Choir to one of your annual concerts.  The latter was one of my proudest accomplishments as I fashioned my directing style upon your teachings.  I am so proud to be back and to participate not only in the music but also in the fundraising efforts that clearly are reaching a vast number of individuals through your selflessness and generosity.  Thank you and stay well.

Bonsoir monsieur Payne,

Just received an email from a friend in Montreal and the article about your battle with prostate cancer.

Glad to hear you are on the mend. Our whole family are fans and have been to Montreal and up here in Ottawa to hear the beautiful music you have given us over these many years. We love the choir and listen to it every chance we get.

I remember our future daughter in law many years ago asking me if I could get them to sing at their wedding. I replied saying I know Trevor from our school days but I don't think I have that kind of pull with him. We just want you to know that even if I didn't have the pull then we are definitely pulling for you now.

Keep well old friend.

To the beautiful artists,

As an alumni of the Sacred Heart School of Montreal, I had the priviledge of singing with you for the school's 150th anniversary. I want to extend my deepest thanks for allowing us to see you in concert on December 12th. The experience was wonderful. You are all very talented individuals. Thank you Dr. Payne for allowing us to attend your concert.

): 2011 concert venue

Hello:

I confirmed with the OSM that their new concert hall will open in September 2011. It is a brand new hall with less seating than SWP but probably more than Salle Maisonneuve.

I suggest that the Choir consider booking 2-3 dates in the new hall instead of trying to rely on only 1 date at Theatre Maisonneuve for 2011. I am sure that the environment and acoustics would be far superior than an 'older' hall. Also, associating yourself with the OSM and their brand new hall would be a coup for the Choir, thus increasing its 'public' in Montreal.

I attended your concert at St. James last night. Great!

Best of luck and thanks, MM

Merci M. Payne pour votre dévouement, God bless you all and keep you healthy. NB

Hello:

We attended last night's concert at The Sacred Heart School. Our daughter, who graduated from there in 2005, is a straight A student and about to finish her B. Comm at the John Molson School of Business at Concordia U. She is starting the CA program next year. We are very grateful to the school for establishing a solid foundation for her and her peers' education, personal and spiritual growth.

Seeing one of your concerts was always on our wish list. Well, we liked it so much that 7 of us will be there for your December 12th concert at St. James United Church.

Truly inspiring music. Congratulations.

See you in December!

): Cedars Cancer Institute

For immediate release
September 21, 2010

Cedars Cancer Institute launches the
Trevor W. Payne Prostate Cancer Awareness Fund

The Cedars Cancer Institute is pleased to announce that celebrated Montreal musician Professor Trevor W. Payne will spearhead a new prostate cancer awareness fund in support of the Cedars Best Care for Life campaign of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC).

Cedars’ Trevor W. Payne Prostate Cancer Awareness Fund has been created as a means for Payne to give back to the medical team and hospital where he was successfully treated for prostate cancer in 2009. As spokesperson for the newly‐conceived initiative, Payne will help Cedars create awareness in the community of the risk factors, signs, symptoms and treatment of prostate cancer with a focus on the benefits of early detection.

Cedars Director General, Jeff Shamie proudly reports “In the past two years, the Cedars Cancer Institute has secured the acquisition of a most important cutting‐edge medical tool in prostate cancers for the MUHC – the da Vinci surgical robot – with a $1.8 million gift to the hospital’s Cancer Care Mission.”

“We are ecstatic” Shamie continued “that Trevor, through his compassion for cancer patients and his notoriety will help Cedars champion the prostate cancer cause and promote awareness among men of the importance of screening and early detection.”

“Prostate cancer kills more men every year than any other form of cancer. It will afflict one in eight men in their lifetimes, striking approximately 22,300 men this year alone. I am ever so thankful to the MUHC, Dr. Armen Aprikian and his team and to Cedars CanSupport for getting me through the difficult diagnosis of prostate cancer. I am giving back in gratefulness and partnering with Cedars to help advance awareness and funds for this complicated disease.”

The Trevor W. Payne Prostate Cancer initiative is being supported through the “Change Montreal” campaign – a public awareness and fundraising project of the Best Care for Life campaign of the MUHC. Individuals can go to ChangeMontreal.ca to learn more and to make donations towards this and other Cedars initiatives.

Cedars supporters can look forward to the inaugural Prostate Cancer Awareness Fund fundraising concert with Trevor Payne’s Jubilation Choir and Friends in the spring 2011. Stay tuned for details at www.cedars.ca

Donald K. Tarlton: Thank you!

Dear Trevor and the Montreal Jubilation Gospel Choir,

All of us here at DKD Events would like to thank you so much for being a part of our Canada Day celebrations on Parliament Hill this past July 1.

After so many months of planning, research, and-finalizing of details, it was truly magical for us to see it all come together on the stage.

It was a pleasure to collaborate with you in making Canada Day a memorable event for the thousands of people on the Hill for the two shows, as well as those who were watching or listening at home. The Noon Show, which was attended by Her Majesty the Queen, attracted a crowd of 70,000 to Parliament Hill, and was taken in by a total of 1,772,000 people on TV, on the radio, and on the Internet. In the evening, total attendance on the Hill was also about 70,000, with an audience of 1,117,000 tuning in on TV, the radio and online.

Enclosed you will find DVD copies of the Noon Show, the Evening Show i-hour television program, and the entire 3-hour Evening Show that we'd like to give you as souvenirs of the event. Your energy and enthusiasm, your dedication in rehearsals, and especially your versatility and professionalism in working on collaborations with Johnny Reid and Dione Taylor, as well as participating in the Noon Show finale and the opening number of the Evening Show, all contributed in no small part to the success of the event. This was a momentous occasion and we were fortunate to have such a world-class choir with us on Parliament Hill.

We hope to have the opportunity to work with you again on another upcoming project, and in the meantime, please accept our thanks and best wishes for your future endeavours.

If you ever need anyone to sing your praises, we're the ones to call!

Best regards,

Donald, André, Kim, Oko, Jackie, Pat and the entire DKD Events team

Anne Martine Lafaille: Thanks

Merci!

affectueusement,

Thanks!

Since 2006, I fulfilled a dream by being part of a family of simple people, generous and socially engaged in their philanthropic work. Being part of MJGC brought me pleasure and unique experiences, but also made me see the importance of personal discipline and individual commitment to the success of our projects. I thank the group for this adventure that profoundly affected me and I wish you a good continuity. I am happy and grateful that you allow my dream to continue otherwise, by being added the list of Lifetime-Members.
